On Tuesday 8th March, Year 6 were incredibly lucky to meet Domino, the Spectacled Owl from the Amazon, Clover, the eight-month-old, very excited Ural Owl from Russia, and Milo, the Striped Owl from Peru. Sweeney the peregrine falcon made a surprise guest appearance at the end. We had a fabulous time!
Thursday 3rd March was World Book Day and Year 6 dressed as their favourite book characters and took part in an online workshop with the Holocaust Memorial Museum. They were privileged to have the opportunity to meet Holocaust survivor Henri Obstfeld, who told them about his experiences in Amsterdam as a young child during the Second World War.
Year 6 will be walking to the Church for a pre-Christmas visit on the afternoon of Wednesday 15th December.
The evacuees presented themselves and their luggage in the "billetting hall" and were chosen - or not - by a variety of prospective people and families.
After an eventful journey to Lea Green, we arrived and couldn't wait to get started with the activities. Throughout the day, we enjoyed climbing, high ropes, low ropes, zipwire and bush-craft skills; we even got a chance to have toasted marshmallows! Many of us thought we would be too scared to even try some of the activities, but we proved ourselves wrong and achieved much more than we expected - even the teachers! A big thank you to the staff at Lea Green who went out of their way to encourage us and make us all feel safe.
