    A team of Year 6 children represented the school at the South Derbyshire Football Competition. The team won the group stage beating Findern, Derby High and The Mease, Hilton.  but lost in the semi finals to Willington.

    MJS at the Parish Church

    Melbourne Junior School Choir, ably prepared and supported by Miss Martin and Mrs Worthington, sang beautifully at the Parish Church Christmas Fair and Tree Festival. Mrs Green, who masterminded the Christmas tree design with the children, was delighted to hear that the tree had won the most votes.

    Scarecrow Success

    Congratulations to Mrs Green and the children who made the Paddington Bear scarecrow for the Swarkestone Nurseries competition. The MJS scarecrow won, and Mrs Green plans to ask the Gladiators to help to decide on how to spend the prize money of £250!

    Y6 visit to Acres Engineering as part of Manufacturing Day

    Year 6 pupils enjoyed a visit to Acres Engineering in Melbourne as part of Manufacturing Day. They found out about jobs in STEM industries and took part in challenges. MJS pupils were the fastest to build a trestle. With many thanks to Lucy Stephens from Village Voice for the photographs.
