  • The Big Read

    The Big Read started after the half term holiday.

    Poet, Paul Cookson, led workshops for all children. Pupils were inspired by these and may have written their own poems based on his work.

    We were overwhelmed with support for reading with parents and grandparents.

    Every space in school seemed for be full of children reading to an adult.

    Photographs of 'Extreme Reading' are displayed in the library.

    During our Reading Relay, children in the school read for a total of 6 hours and 40 minutes.

    Our Book Swap enabled all children to take home a book.

  • Safer Internet Day

    Our I-vengers led an assembly on Safer Internet Day. The theme this year is Inspiring Change.

  • Year 5 visit to Richard III Centre, Leicester

  • Cross Country

    The South Derbyshire Sports Partnership Cross Country event took place on 29 January at Melbourne Sports Partnership. Six pupils from each year group took part. Many were placed and Melbourne were overall winners and will take part in County finals on 11 March.

  • Indian Dance Workshops

    The PTA kindly paid for Indian Dance workshops for all classes.

  • Rugby Workshops

    Thanks to Melbourne Rugby Club coaches who ran workshops for all classes.

  • Mother Goose

    Four buses took the whole school to Derby Arena to see Mother Goose. This was the first visit since 2019 and was enjoyed by all.
