Cricket Competition
A group of Year 6 children went to Findern Primary School today for an inter-school cricket competition. The weather was amazing for them, and they won both matches 92-36 and 101-48.
Cross Country County Finals
A team of children from years 3,4,5 and 6 competed at the cross country county finals at Mount St. Mary's in Chesterfield this week. Out of 15 schools, with 100 competing in each race, Year 3/4 boys and girls came third and Year 5/6 girls came 1st! We are very proud of all of the children who took part and did MJS proud.
Swimming Gala
A team of children from years 5 and 6 competed at the Swimming Gala held at Repton School this week. They came 1st out of 10 schools. We are very proud of their achievement!
Girls' Football Competition
Miss Pritchard took 40 girls to St. Georges Park on Thursday afternoon to compete in a South Derbyshire football tournament. MJS had four teams competing; the teams of girls from Year 3 and 4 came 3rd and 4th overall. The teams of girls from Year 5 and 6 came second and fourth. Team A narrowly missed out on the semi-finals.
Gymnastics Competition
On Monday, a group of our Year 6 girls competed in a gymnastics event at Granville Academy, Swadlincote. The children competed against each other and thoroughly enjoyed the occasion.
Cross Country Success!
On Monday 29th January, 24 children from Melbourne Junior School competed in the area cross-country competition at the MSP in Melbourne. Each year group won for their age group and will go through to the county finals.
EFL U11's Football Kids Cup
A team of nine boys in Year 6 took part in the Kids' Cup football competition on Wednesday at Lees Brook Academy, Derby. They worked well as a team and came third overall out of 13 teams.
7-a-side Girls' Netball
Two teams of Year 6 girls took part in the 7-a-side netball competition at Pennine Way Junior School. They were against 9 different teams and came 3rd overall.
