Phonics at MJS
On entry to MJS, as part of the Early Reading Journey, children's phonic awareness will be assessed using a thorough diagnostic assessment. Some children may require targeted, daily phonic intervention to address any gaps in learning.
The No Nonsense Phonics Scheme was introduced in September 2023.
In Year 3, children will be placed in groups for daily teaching which takes place from 9.00-9.30.
Children in Years 4,5 and 6 who need further support with phonics will also receive support.
