We understand that children moving from an infant school to a junior school can be scary for both children and parents. We work with our infant school to ensure that the children are faced with familiarity when they move up to us and try to ensure that we are able to build on the foundations of mathematics they learn from Reception to Year 2.
Every Year 3 and Year 4 classroom is equipped with resources similar to those at the infant school to ensure continuity. Both the junior and infant schools use White Rose as a starting point when planning. Our calculation Policy builds on from the small steps learnt at the infant school. Finally, we ensure every classroom is vocabulary rich and filled with opportunities for partner talk and collaboration.
