Curriculum for Spring Term 

English- Writing to Persuade, Writing to Inform, Writing to Entertain 

Maths - Multiplication and Division, Length and Perimeter, Fractions, Mass and Capacity

Science - Sound, Electricity

History – Vikings

Geography – Earthquakes

Art – Painting: Light and dark

DT- Torches

Music- Musical Traditions

French- Presenting Myself, Fruit

PE  - Dance, Gymnastics, Hockey, Outdoor and Adventurous 

Children should come into school in their school PE kits on their designated PE days which are as follows:  

Hazel – Tuesday and Thursday 

Rowan – Tuesday and Thursday 

If your child wears earrings, please can they remove them for PE or bring in surgical tape to cover earrings over. 

Reading

We like to encourage the children to read a minimum of four times a week at home. Please support your child with this and record their reading in their home-school diary. If your child needs to change their reading book, there will be an opportunity to do so each morning as they enter school.

Children will take park in Whole Class Reading sessions multiple times a week, where we enjoy reading a range of books together. Teachers and TAs will also listen to your children read individually.

Homework

Children are given weekly Maths and English homework in their Dactyl homework book. Work is set on a Friday and should be returned the following Friday. Please refer to the insert on the inside of the front cover where we will write the due date and required page(s) to be completed. Please support and encourage your child to complete the pages set each week and let us know if they experience any issues. These books have been bought as a resource to help support learning in school and revise key concepts. We therefore ask that only the pages set each week are completed as homework and no more.  

All children have a TT Rockstars login and a Spelling Shed login. These are websites that will enable children to practise times tables and spellings regularly at home. 

Please sign the home-school diary weekly; teachers will check and sign on a Friday.
