We had a fun-filled day either training to be Crime Scene Investigators at school or about the 'Art of Manufacturing' at Toyota.

Year 5 enjoyed Bikeability Level 1 training
As part of MJS Science Week 2023, Mrs Hill came to talk to us about her job with the Environment Agency. We revised our knowledge of life cycles, created different food chains and learnt about invasive species. It was inspiring to hear about the value of STEM skills in the real world.

Year 5 enjoyed a fantastic cricket coaching session from Derbyshire County Cricket club.
Elf Day 2022. This year we had training on how to make peppermint creams and packaging and how to decorate baubles.
We were so proud of all the children for their fantastic production of 'No-one Wraps like an Elf'. They worked incredibly hard to learn their lines and some complicated songs. To see videos of some of the songs, please visit the videos section of the website.

National Poetry Day
Year 5 visited Lea Green on 29th and 30th September. We completed Geography field work at Lea Brook, undertaking a number of different studies. These included measuring width, depth and velocity of the stream, as well as searching for mini beasts as a way of checking the quality of the water.
Welcome to Year 5!
Cherry Class - Your teachers are Mrs Fowkes and Mrs Argent. Mrs Fowkes teaches Monday to Wednesday and Mrs Argent teaches every other Wednesday morning, Thursday and Friday.
Pine Class - Your teacher is Miss Price.
Mulberry - You will be taught by Miss Martin in the morning and then join Cherry or Pine class in the afternoon.
Mrs Perry, Mrs Donnachie, Mrs Flint and Mrs Tyler will be providing support across the year group and they are looking forward to being in Year 5.
Cherry PE days are on a Monday and Friday and Pine are Tuesday and Friday, so please come to school on those days in your PE kits. Mulberry children will have PE with their afternoon class.
Cherry will swim on Friday afternoons from Friday 16th September 2022. Please come to school in school uniform and bring your swimming kit and a suitable bag to put your wet towel and swimming costume in. Pine will swim in the Spring term. Mulberry children will swim with their afternoon class.
